Second firing this year of the woodfired kiln. I think we are getting know how the kiln fires now. We had a nice even firing and the fire box gobbled up up all the wood we fed it with out any problems. Even the last 100 C to 1300 C (cone 10) went very smoothly.... Continue Reading →

This is our eighth firing of the kiln and turned out to be the best so far. We put pyrogenic cones at four levels to see what temperature was reached. Nice steady firing all over in about 12 hours. Escaped between lock-downs to fire the kiln in August. Great weather and a good firing. We are definitely getting better at firing the kiln as we get to know it. The key to a good firing is dry wood! Very pleased with the pots that came out with some nice shinos.
