In October I went back up to Scotland to fire the kiln I helped build for its third firing. This time Marcus O’Mahony came over from Ireland to joined us. He provided considerable advice on firing this type of kiln. It made all the difference and we started firing at 05:30 in the morning and finished at 18:00 and reached 1320 C and reached cone 11 with ease. The results on opening the kiln were really good. We now know that the kiln design is good and works well it is the firers that need to be better!
